Blog 7 - Wreck Diving

This is not a photography related post so I apologise in advance but it's been a very exciting day and I really wanted to share with you all.

Today Ferg organised for Sian and myself to go on our first scuba dive out in the sea. We Arrived at the west coast scuba centre and got kitted up.

We then went to pick up the boat which was a beauty and took a short ride out of the dock and down to the south coast to do our first teaching dive. The boat stopped just down the beach from the Boat Yard, we entered the water by falling backwards off the side of the boat (like they do in the films! My first bit of diving was the coolest move ever!) Sian, the instructor and I swam up to she shore so we could nearly stand on the bottom. We then went through the basics of clearing your mask of water, taking out your reg and finding your reg and putting it back in your mouth and breathing. After we both successfully did these tasks we went back to the boat and went to the wrecks.

On our way back to the boat we sore two sea turtles. In the past i have never really been that bothered about seeing them but after today i have changed my mind. Watching them swim so effortlessly is just amazing, so much so they don't look real while Sian was getting on the boat they came so close that they were nearly touching her feet. There not to bright though this one came up to the METEL rudder and tried to take a bite out of it!

As good as my 7D is i am sorry to say its not water proof, luckily Ferg has his underwater point and shoot and did a stunning job.

Ferg joined us on the second dive down to the wrecks. The first ship was an old world war one war ship that had sunk and the there was hundreds of fish of all different colours darting all over the place. It truly is another world down there, one where you can breath underwater and you are weightless, amazing.
We moved on to the second ship, as you are swimming along the bottom you could see infront of you getting darker and then from no where it turns into the hull of a ship! Some of the more advanced divers had a look inside while they where doing this I managed to stand on the deck and walk a couple of steps. Strange feeling!
Sadly on the third ship which was a little deeper down I could not equalise my left ear so it ment I could not go down to that depth as my ear hurt too much. I was sent back to the boat to rest for a bit

When the guys on the boat sore a stream of bubbles heading back towards us and because my ear was well rested pete (the dive shop owner) let me go back in and join Ferg and Sian so I was able to have a look at the last wreck.
